René Furterer Marketing Manager
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
A growing professional hair care company is expanding their commercialization effort in the US and is looking to strengthen their marketing efforts. In this role, you will have full marketing responsibility for the French hair care brand Rene Furterer. The marketing efforts will be targeted towards salons and the American retail market environment.
The scope of this role will encompass everything from developing the strategic direction of the brand on the American market, to the tactical execution of that strategy. We are an entrepreneurial company so a “can do” attitude is crucial. This position will work cross functionally with International Marketing, Operations, and Sales & Finance teams to coordinate concept development, competitive analysis, timeline management, pricing strategy, education, public relations, and collateral/digital support in preparation for launch.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working within a start-up environment, and be familiar with all elements of the below outlined responsibilities, so as to be able to jump into the role immediately and become fully immersed into the team. Must be willing to do both the high level thinking and also perform the tactical tasks needed to complete the job. Expedient, strategic, rigorous and well-planned development is necessary and will be the benchmark for success within the position.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Close collaboration with the French Headquarter and the international marketing division to strategize the development of the brand in the US
•Develop both short term and long term marketing, Media + PR and social media plans.
•Develop and implement marketing strategies, promotions, sell-through Incentives for the salon distribution channel.
•Develop and recommend creative marketing strategies including sales volume and profit forecasts to meet business goals.
•Prepare and update marketing calendars to ensure consistency with brand's strategic direction.
•Analyze market trends and competitors by tracking new products and market development.
•Manage new product launches including all artwork, execution, materials, Social Media Launch Campaigns, PR Launch strategy
•Partner with Sales Manager to develop marketing plans and materials to ensure business growth.
•Responsible for the budget management for the brand including monthly financial review and analysis of marketing expenses and fiscal housekeeping.
•Preparation of product/promotional P&L analysis and ROI.
•Review and analyze all sales data, trends and average price data for all SKU’s.
•Develop US unit and dollar annual and monthly forecasts for in-line and emerging products. Track sales and comp line inventory for all products.
•Close collaboration with the sales & education teams to develop training tools.
•Market research on competitive products and pricing.
•Provide direction to external Digital Agency for development, maintenance of current brand website and developing of digital strategies
As a member of the Marketing Team:
•Participates in monthly Executive Meetings, Forecast meetings and weekly Team meetings
•Reports monthly on product sales and ongoing marketing programs and overall brand performance to the French Headquarter.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors degree; MBA preferred
EXPERIENCE:
•6+ years in Marketing experience with a proven track record; experience with hair care and salon industry a must.
•Must have ability to think strategically and to conceptualize and implement new ideas.
•Must have the strong analytical skills and detail orientation required to manage highly complex categories, programs and initiatives.
•Requires strong problem solving capabilities and ability to work independently.
•Requires strong oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and team building capabilities with internal functional groups as well as with external partners.
•Proven teamwork and collaboration skills.
•Strong team player with an ability to be a participant and a leader.
•A “can do” attitude is crucial in this entrepreneurial company environment.
•The individual in this position must demonstrate the ability to manage their own work, meet required deadlines and communicate well with all levels of management
•Comprehensive understanding of salon and retail marketing
•Comprehensive understanding of legal and regulatory issues impacting product marketing.
•Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the dynamics driving the hair care market.
•Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, and Power Point software programs.
•Since a close collaboration with the French Headquarter is essential, proficiency in French is a plus.
