GENERAL FUNCTION:
· This individual will develop and implement improved methods of manufacturing, procedures, and processes that result in improved efficiencies, yields, machine operations, and quality. This individual will perform both at a (multi-program) level and at the task level.
· Provides technical support to the production floor and technical staff. Be able to effectively communicate to all levels of management. Develop machine maintenance programs via SAP.
· The skill sets required for completing projects are concepting of high speed automated equipment, implementation into production per timeline and budget, documentating of operations, training and maintaining production operations with in a team environment.
· The process development will utilize design for six sigma techniques and standard validation practices.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Project Planning — Prepares and implements improvement plans for manufacturing operations: future machine and equipment needs (related to growth and replacement), new product support, general and manufacturing support, and general process related improvements. The plan or proposal is to include the proposed technical approach, estimated implementation costs, estimated resource needs, and a time schedule, (Pert or Gantt Chart). Interaction with the various plant engineers and associates to develop machine concepts and implementation plans to production.
Process & Product Data — Maintains a working knowledge of new methods, equipment, product specifications, waste, costs, through put rate, and material costs. This technical data is to be used in the justifications of new equipment and cost reduction projects.
Documentation — Prepares process job descriptions and manufacturing specifications as required. Thoroughly documents all equipment, machines, and tooling with accurate and clear detailed prints and maintenance instructions.
Manufacturing Support — Provides technical guidance as needed to manufacturing and hourly technical personnel. Uses good decision making, problem solving and trouble-shooting techniques to minimize the potential or correct ongoing manufacturing issues.
Equipment — Prepares a plan for procurement of capital equipment including obtaining of quotes, vendor investigation, budgeting, and scheduling. Prepares specifications, place orders, coordinate procurement, install equipment, debug and coordinate the start up of a new or modified equipment from outside firms or as modified internally. Redesigns or oversees the redesign of existing equipment to incorporate improvements relating to safety, machine reliability, product quality, and/or cost reduction.
Design — Be able to perform fixture and machine design in AutoCad software. Coordinate design activity with outside vendors or internal departments as necessary.
Cost Reduction — Provide concepts and supporting data for cost reduction proposals to meet the plant’s productivity objectives.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
All work is subject to review by the Cannula Operations team and/or Cannula Engineering Coordinator on a regular basis.
1. Technical Achievement — Successfully implement new and improved technology resulting in improved planned performance standards.
2. Schedule Achievement — Successfully implement planned projects to an agreed upon due date, and within acceptable resource variance levels.
3. Capital/Budget Control — Responsible for initiation of capital expenditures. Expenditures to be within the approved budget. Achieve on-going cost improvement projects
4. Safety/Environment — Implemented projects and processes must adhere to OSHA safety and environmental requirements. |

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Education — Minimum 2yr associates degree in related field.
Experience — Minimum of 5 years experience in a process, manufacturing, and/or project engineering role. Experience in an automated facility is preferred.
SUPERVISION — Direct — none; Indirect - In addition to the functional supervision and responsibility for all assigned projects, this position may have indirect supervision of other technical personnel. |
